Background and Purpose
The LMU Munich stands for outstanding research paired with a long tradition. In current university rankings, LMU is repeatedly awarded the top position in the research category among German universities. The university is currently home to about 700 professors and 3,000 research assistants who conduct both research and teaching within 18 different faculties.
The LMU Center for Advanced Management Studies (LMU CAMS) was established in 2007 as part of the LMUexcellent initiative. In terms of both content and organizational structure, LMU CAMS is located within the Faculty of Business Administration (LMU Munich School of Management) and is supported by all associated chairs. The LMU CAMS is currently headed by the faculty's current Dean of Research,
Prof. Dr. Martin Spann.
The Faculty of Business Administration, one of 18 faculties at LMU, consistently ranks among the most prestigious business administration faculties in Germany. In various study programs, around 3,200 students are prepared for careers in private and public organizations as well as in academia. Moreover, around 150 professors and young researchers conduct research on current and innovative issues in the field of management. The faculty offers a wide variety of courses and conducts a diverse set of research projects, many of which are embedded within an international context and therefore benefit greatly from global exchange with other universities and companies.
The aim of LMU CAMS is to promote international cooperation. To this end, the LMU CAMS supports visiting stays by renowned scholars as well as promising early-career researchers who wish to advance their research at LMU. Next to the professional exchange with international colleagues especially LMU's junior researchers, as part of their local doctoral training, benefit from new concepts, methods, and research ideas.
